This is a personal project celebrating food and fermentation: GOZBA is a visual food diary. The challenge was to create a unified brand for GOZBA.
Creating a single visual that encompassed the breadth of the project was challenging. The animated logo took inspiration from my bubbling ferments.
I conducted research by analysing vintage cookbooks and print media alongside folkloric motifs. This exploration led to designing a bespoke dining table motif. This design element represents community and shared meals. It is rewarding to translate folk history into contemporary design language.
The typography was selected based on Constructionist and Balkan visuals of the 1960s. I sourced the palette from a Yugoslav postage stamp, rooting the project in heritage. The colour story-telling was key in forming the GOZBA identity. Colours: Paprika, kefir, coffee, baklava, plavo.
This design process allowed me to research and play. I navigated the challenge of distilling an abstract foodie concept, into a clear and unique brand.
