This personal project was to create product packaging for my microbrewery. The product is small scale brews of mead, ales, and kombucha. The process married hand-crafted printmaking while ensuring legibility. Key was adhering to packaging specifications, laws, and best practices. Another challenge was creating a flexible system for different brews while keeping a unified brand identity.
I developed a colour story using black and white, allowing the ale to be the hero. This solution offers flexibility to adapt to different brews. The goal is to hero beekeepers and seasonal produce within a consistent brand story.
The process included research, sketching. I used home printmaking materials such as lino and small “press” in the form of a rolling pin. Later, high-resolution scanning, and digital design, and label manufacturing (ongoing). This allowed preserving the raw textures. Adobe Photoshop and printmaking materials were used to achieve the desired hand-crafted feel.
