I designed a visual system for his resume & future projects.
The challenge was to create a visual identity for Marko, a software engineer, that communicated his technical skills to non-industry professionals. Despite the open-source community being generous and humorous, to non-industry folks, it often reads as jargon.
My design addresses these barriers in a few ways. The focus was on Marko’s technical expertise and conveying his laid-back personality. The design solution was creating pictograms as entry points for his projects. For example, the project ELSA-DATA paired with a snowflake.
I began with ideation sketches, refining the concepts in Illustrator. The final logo was selected based on its unique character—a tulip with a wonky curve. Marko selected a warm colour palette, and I paired it with clean fonts. The result was a visual system that was warm and approachable.
The project highlights Marko as both a highly competent engineer and as a personable, easy-going programmer.
